My Favorite Bible Verse

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight.” - Proverbs 3: 5-6.

My Greatest Joy in working in a Christian School

Teaching children the word of God and watching them grow through the Word.

I Love Trinity Academy because

It is a small school with a Christian environment.

About Me

I have been teaching at Trinity Academy since 2001. My degree is in Early Childhood Education, which I received at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. I enjoy gardening, cooking, scrapbooking and being with my family. I am a Trinity church member and enjoy serving as a substitute Sunday school teacher. I enjoy bible study and my favorite book is Philippians.

Mrs. Cicha

Welcome!

Dear Parents,

My name is Jenny Cicha and I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year. I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself.

I have been teaching since 1993 when I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I grew up in Spooner, Wisconsin, but have enjoyed living in Hudson since 2000. I enjoy gardening, rubber stamping, scrap booking, fishing and traveling. My travels so far have taken me to places as interesting and exotic as Singapore, India and Kenya.

I am really excited to be with the team at Trinity School! I feel truly blessed to be teaching kindergarten here. I hope to provide your child with the best first year of school experience possible! There will be many opportunities to become involved with your child’s learning this year. Together we can make this a great start to your child’s education! I look forward to getting to know you and your family.

God Bless,
Mrs. Cicha

HOMERUN READING:  20 minutes per day
(Required)
Kindergarten students need to read or be read to 20 minutes per day.
Use the Reading Log that is sent home in the Family Folders at the beginning of each month to keep track of minutes read.  Turn in your Reading Logs the first school day of each new month. Reading Logs turned in after that will count for your student's grade, but NOT toward the incentive points.

April Bible Verse:

John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son,so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but may have eternal life."

Bible verse testing is on the last Monday of the month.

Faith Formation

At Trinity Academy, we incorporate the Christian life-style into all areas of the curriculum. To help students further their understanding about our Father as well as how we should live our lives, students participate in a Religion curriculum developed by Concordia Publishing House (CHP). This centers around the joy of being forgiven children of God and accepted with unconditional love by Jesus, our Savior. The children worship God through song and through prayer. They learn what God’s promises for His people have been in the past and about His willingness to act on behalf of His people today through Old and New Testament Bible stories. The children also worship at a weekly all school chapel service and perform at one chapel per year. Bible memory work is given and verses are memorized monthly.

Reading

Kindergartners are exposed to a print-rich environment through McMillan/McGraw-Hill curriculum, and shared and guided reading. Kindergarteners become familiar with capital and lowercase letters. Phonetic awareness is practiced as well as beginning handwriting skills.

Writing

Kindergarteners have the opportunity to create and write their own stories through writing centers and with class book projects. Poetry is introduced and explored at a beginners level.

Spelling

Inventive spelling is practiced through various language arts activities. Opportunities are given to each child to begin to recognize words that have meaning. A series of sight words will be explored through shared and guided reading activities.

Handwriting

The D’Nealian style of writing is taught throughout all grades at Trinity Academy, beginning in Kindergarten.

Language Arts

Science

All science themes are based on Christian education with an emphasis on making predictions, experimentation and observation. Science topics include seasons, trees, animal habitats, insects, and environmental education. Foss kits are utilized for several of these topics. A hands-on approach is used as often as possible with the children being able to explore realistic materials and observe God’s creation for themselves.

Literature

Math

The math series McMillan/McGraw- Hill is used throughout the year in Kindergarten. The children participate in workbook and hands-on activities using a variety of math manipulatives. This involves number concepts such as counting skills, patterning, sorting, number recognition, measuring and spatial concepts. Kindergarten children learn to count to one hundred by ones, twos, fives, and tens. Calendar math is used to teach many lessons in a hands-on manner. The concept of time is introduced to the hour and half hour. Money is explored through coin recognition and simple addition. Number lines are introduced for beginning addition and subtraction problems. Numeral writing is practiced in the D’Nealian style and children are encouraged to write the numerals to one hundred.

Social Studies

Our social studies activities focus on self-concept, families, neighborhoods and communities, transportation, and safety. Respect for our country and flag, Christian holidays, and bible characters are also studied. Activities are presented through the use of non-fiction books, worksheets and role- playing experiences.

Art

Students are introduced to the elements of art: line, shape, color, texture and space. They will use their knowledge of these elements in a variety of art work including drawing, painting, collage, mixed media and sculpture. Children will also be introduced to the care of art supplies and safe art room procedures.

Music & Band

Students explore various types of musical styles. They learn through listening, echoing, movement, pitch, simple instrument play, rhythm, and tonal exploration. All students are required to participate in the annual Christmas Musical and spring choral concert. Students in these early elementary grades have the option to sing as part of the Trinity Academy Choir.

Technology

Students are able to demonstrate the ability to log on and off using their password, with minimal assistance. Along with this, is learning the basic computer components: mouse, keyboard, CPU, monitor, printers, scanner and CD-Rom. The children demonstrate proper care and use of the equipment. Show correct use of input and output devices (mouse, keyboard, printer).

Physical Education

Units are an introduction to skills rules, progressions, and the uses of different types of equipment. When beginning new units, time is spent on guided discovery and exploration. The primary focus is the development of basic movement and coordination skills that coincide with games and activities taught. Students learn and develop skills for a variety of activities and games including throwing and catching, striking, primary ball skills, and floor hockey.
