My Favorite Bible Verse

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Phil. 4:13

My Greatest Joy in working in a Christian School

I love knowing I can relate to everyone as brothers and sisters, since we all share the same heavenly Father.

I Love Trinity Academy because

I sense an attitude of academic excellence, moral integrity and personal warmth from the students, parents and staff.

About Me

I grew up in Chippewa Falls and graduated from UW Eau Claire. We have lived in River Falls for the last 7 years. My son and daughter attend Trinity Academy. I teach Sunday school and lead a kid's club at our church. I enjoy group exercise classes, ballroom dancing, playing the piano for church, reading and going on family adventures. My favorite past time is painting.

Our art program seeks to provide age appropriate experiences to meet academic standards and produce educated citizens who will value, understand and contribute to artistic achievements.   Our progam emphasizes drawing since the ability to draw is foundational to creating art and is helpful in many careers.

Students are introduced to the elements of art: line, shape, color, texture and space.  They will use their knowledge of these elements in a variety of art work including drawing, painting, collage, mixed media and sculpture.  Children will also be introduced to the care of art supplies and safe art room procedures.

The introduction to the elements of art continues with the addition of perspective. Artists such as O'Keefe, VanGogh and Grandma Moses help illustrate and enrich the learning objectives.  Art style from different cultures will also be explored.

Students will continue to explore the elements and add the understanding of values (lights and darks) to their skills bank.  The principles of composition and their possibilities are discussed and explored.   Vocabulary takes on more importance.  Knowledge of the elements is used in creating a variety of media, sculpture and textiles.

The same material is taught in grades 3-5 on a three year cycle.  Beginning with a unit on drawing and color theory.  We will be sweeping art history from ancient times to present from a bird's eye view.  Our goal is to lay out the big picture of art history and develop a frame work upon which the students are able to identify where a given work of art should fit.  Students will create their own projects in the style of the masters we will be exploring.  For example, students will be experimenting with fresco (painting on wet plaster) as we study the frescoes of the medieval age.  We will also explore clay (additive process), plaster sculpture (subtractive process), painting, pastel on paper, print making and collage.
